The SS did use swords like that.It certainly has everything one would hope too see.That being said I do not think one could ever know for sure if it is genuine so I would not pay big bucks for it.

The knot is definitely a repro. It's hard to say about the ss runes on the sword langet. They were custom done in a variety of ways. It is peculiar that SS runes would appear under the handguard. Not needed and signifying nothing. I am leery of the sword as a whole and would pass on it.
