I think these guys are going to need more and better photos.

What is with the scabbard. Is it just me, the photos, or is the scabbard a strange shape?

Hi I see no problem with the scabbard based on pics other than a painted scabbard...is the lower crossguard stamped? Doesn't appear to be yet has an earlier trademark...handle looks okay but would need better pics to see handle to crossguard fit, appear to be gaps that do not look like shrinkage or line up with lower crossguard at least.Possibly a parts dagger at best? As mentioned better pics needed for a definitive opinion...cheers, Ryan

Ii looks okay, based on the photos. It appears the scabbard has been painted. The lower crossguard lacking a district mark is not necessarily a "flag." Some of the earlier examples are found without the mark occasionally.

In 26 years of collecting I have yet to encounter a period unmolested early M-33 SS dagger that did not have a District stamp. I am not saying that they do exist but rather that those that do are suspect and or parts daggers in most instances. cheers
