The owner Ludwig Elsässer was born in1903 he joined the SS in 1930 and received SS-Ausweis nr4212 his awards are

NSDAP 2-9 1933 propaganda pin

Ehrendolch der SA (SS)
Ehrenwinkel Für Alte Kämpfer (winkels des Alten Garde)

Always nice to put a face with a SS dagger as well. This is Ludwig Elsässer, SS No. 4212, whose photo was still attached to his NSDAP membership file card that I located for Steve.

Did he survive the war?

If you could find a picture of him in a military uniform, that would be perfect.
