I just got this baby home Big Grin
I've been looking for one of these quite some time, and finally the opportunity came.

Fully maker-marked Klittermann & Moog Smile

I guess it's been shown before by previous owner, but here it is again Wink

Cheers,

Tor-Helge

I have a few questions for those more experienced than me on this dagger maker. The following characteristics (sp?) of this dagger caught my attention: Shiney grip that kind of looks to have been painted, what looks like pitting on the blade and an apparently lightly engraved motto and maker's mark (possibily indicating a reground and etched blade???).

Are these just lighting issues during picture taking or has this dagger been played with? Confused

This may have been covered in a different link on this dagger?

Thanks, Blademan

Hi,

Blademan: The grip has been restored by someone not professional as it has a couple of cracks both upper and lower part of grip.
The blade has been polished and given a new rougher looking crossgrain. Obviously to clean it up as there is still some pitting on the blade.

Both the motto and the makermark have the exact same color in the etch, likewise they conform to the only other example I've seen closeups of on this maker both in style, depth and color.

In fairness, I know of only 1 other belonging to a GDC member, but I've seen 2 others pictured on the internet on different auction sites over the last appx 3 years. (Maybe even the same dagger sold twice??)

Seiler: The case came from the seller of this. I have no idea where he got it but it looks good Big Grin

Cheers,

Tor,

I have one. It was the first to turn up and is pictured in Tom Wittmann's book.

A second turned up at the SOS in 2003 and I think that is the one you now have.

Thanks Dave,
That info ties in well with it being sold by TW in '04 (I think it was).

Cheers,

I appreciate this link. I am learning alot about this dagger maker. Can you tell me how rare the RZM (M7/29) version of this dagger is? It seems it is more common than the earlier maker marked dagger.

TW has a RZM version for sale at http://www.wwiidaggers.com/23815.htm

Thanks, Blademan

Hi,
The 7/29 is the most common of the exclamation-point daggers. Still scarce though.

Couldn't help it, I just had to throw in a pic of my !-daggers Big Grin

From back to front: RZM 7/29, Jacobs & Co, Klittermann & Moog

Cheers,

Tor-Helge

My opinion of rarity:

1 - M7/29
2 - RZM 324
3 - Jacobs
4 - K&M
