Has anybody ever seen an ss dagger marked M7/93 Ewald Cleff? Here is a picture of the RZM marking.

I've not heard of that one. I'd like to see the rest of the dagger.

Runes button looks suspect...

The eagle looks good, and the way it's inset looks good. The overall fit isn't great, but not uncommon for an RZM. The pics aren't that good to make a final judgment. Plus, it's be nice to peak inside.

The grip is painted. The underlying brown shows up on the high points. You can even see brush strokes. Roll Eyes

Good point Rev, a little more gamma correction makes it obvious...

If Dave hasn't heard of it, it may be very rare, or very fake, hence the critique of this dagger....is it real? I'd sure like to see the tang markings. I've never seen this maker on SS.

The RZM mark is off center....not too uncommon. The mark looks acid etched, as opposed to fake laser etch.

Best, John

Until recently people did not keep track of RZM dagger codes that closely. I was probably one of the few and I missed several or they were "discovered" later.

The rest of the dagger should tell the tale Big Grin

Tang marking looks good, so at least the blade is real! John

I don't feel right about this one. The grip eagle looks a little high, I don't like the eagle (looks like the Helbig RZM type to me), the fit of the blade looks a little off and the motto etch looks too shallow to me.

Tang markings are not necessarily a conclusive sign of an original blade, always nice to see but one can be fooled by them...

Here's a few fake blades which include tang markings. They are claimed to be produced from the original forge dies and etch templates, who knows?
