I just joined today and I was hoping for some help........ I am looking at this dagger (it's for sale) and was wondering if it looks legit and what the value would be ? If there are any concerns I can take specific photo's.

Thanks

Jay

At best, it's a, "parts dagger", that is, not all of the items that make the dagger complete are original to themselves.

From the photos, it looks like it contains a lot of fake components. Too many red flags.

IMO... stay away and save your money.

Welcome to the forum.

For me personally (and I am NOT an SS authority) the red flags are as follows:
1) Apparently plated fittings on an early maker markerd piece.
2) Grip does not appear to be of the correct shape.
3) There is an apparent gap between the crossguard and the blade.
4) The makers mark is questionable.
5) The scabbard appears painted, odd for an early marked piece.
6) The wood grain does not appear to be the type seen on period SS daggers.
7) I don't believe that the SS rune button is the type used by E.Pack.
8) Blade shape appears wrong.
9) There are a few aspects of this dagger which appear to be the same as some very high quality reproductions coming out of the Czech Republic recently. I have seen these repros when I was in Czech. last year. They are getting VERY good and I see a few subtle characteristics in this dagger that remind me of those "bad daggers".
I may well be wrong on 2 or 3 of these concerns, but there are simply too many "red flags" too ignore.
All the best,
Johnny

Maybe a dagger somewhat like this one:

http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/728099473/m/4590041745

The parts look slightly different, but I sure would like to get a chance to examine it.

Who is selling it ?
