At the big "War and Peace show" today in the UK I must have seen over ten of these. Almost every early SS mans you looked at was one. Scratched, aged, ground, pitted???.

Clearly to see so many in one place rings alarm bells for me. Im not saying they were all right or all wrong but the alarm bells were ringing as I expect at least 8-10 of them were good repros. After seeing them all today I think I would be very very scepticle of ever buying one.

I must say though there were hundreds and hundreds of daggers at that show (maybe thousands). Mainly the more common stuff, SAs, Army, Lufts, etc. Some really nice stuff there but also a hell of a lot of repro rubbish, parts daggers, and a whole load of SS daggers with repro blades in??. I looked at an engraved honour dagger (repro) that someone could fall for 6K on, fake chained NSKKs, quite a few fake government officials. Most worrying was the fake SS daggers mainly the gottliebs as some at first and even second sight looked real and they were like £2500-3500 each!
