Aaron, Have you notice as of about 3 weeks ago, if you decide to right click on a photo on the forum and want to save it, you can only do this in the "bitmap" form ? Something has changed that won't allow a photo to be saved as a jpeg.

Aaron, I you right click on a persons avatar, you can save it a a jpeg. But trying to save a regular photo as a jpeg doesn't work. Now go to the Wehrmach site, or ebay, anywhere else and you can save any photo as a jpeg. It appears to be this server that GDC is using.

You can save any of the advertising photos on this site as a jpeg, and can even go to Gailen's site, Johnson's etc and save photo as jpeg, but when you try to save a forum photo that has been posted as a jpeg, you only get one option.......... bitmap ? Bob Rodgers site is using the same host as GDC and it has the same problem as well.

Very interesting - it does appear to be limited to this site only. Let me see if Vern or Dave has restricted something on the site.

It depends on how you try to save them. If you try to save directly from the server, you get a bitmap. If you right click on a photo, select "View Image", then save from there, you get a jpeg. The reason you get a bitmap from the server is that it saves display bandwidth.

With IE, you can right-click on the image and select Copy, then go to your favorite picture viewing program and select Paste. Then you can save the image in any format your picture program supports.

Hello Aaron, you are probably right,But up to a few weeks ago,all I had to do was put the cursor on the photo click on the little floppy disc icon, click save, and thats was it.So something has been changed by the forum server.anyway its easier to click email the photo and save the attachment later, than do it the way you suggest,Thanks Regards Stan

In IE I have a function on a right click called "Show Image" which does the same thing as "View Image" in Netscape. I can save it from there.

Sorry, mine says "Show Picture" as well. All it does is place the photo in a window of it's own, just like in Netscape. I also have IE 6, Windows XP Professional SP2.

That's strange - the show picture option is supposed to be greyed out unless an image doesn't display correctly, i.e. a red "x" or "broken image" symbol. That way, you can click on show image again and ask the web server to retry displaying the image. If everything works well, it should remain greyed out.

Aaron

Gary, After you delete all temp. internet files be sure you re-boot your computer and if it still persists you will need to restore some parts of Windows which have been removed in the update process. I had my buddy do this for me and maybe Aaron can give you some direction as he is much more computer savvy than I.

This a huge pain in the you know what and Microsoft should be able to fix it easily. I have sent them E-mails with no result Mad

Almost every time you get updates from them this happens along with other security issues which block access to various sites, etc. Mad

Life with monopoly..... Frown
