From what I seen (may be wrong here) most watermarks applied to a digital photo can be removed either by a crook using the same software or a skilled photo-editor.

Is there any software that allows the user to put a watermark on/across the object that cannot be removed ? Obviously, if the watermark is outside the object, the photo can be cropped.

Not that I have ever come across, anyone with the inclination can do anything they want to any picture uploaded to the web. The only deterrent is to watermark the image in such a way that the work involved in removing it is more trouble than the picture is worth. You can protect images online from downloading by disabling the right click function, but again this is a 2 sec workaround for anybody reasonabaly PC savvy.

The trouble with elaborate watermarks is that they tend to detract from the subject matter that you are trying to protect.
