This silver ring has a large size. The dealer had a bit of compassion with me because he couldn’t offer me a German ring……....he hoped I was contented to have this one. Yes I do! Smile
Does someone know what type of submarine it could be?

The marks ...I found some Norwegian marks that had 830 S . The initials are J.E.& S .
Above these marks is a mark , kind of a building ( castle) like you find in the Baltic states like brick buildings in the Hanse cities…....just a speculation.

Benten, I had an opportunity to purchase the exact pattern ring last year. While I hesitated trying to look up the mark the ring was gone..
I could never find the exact castle mark, but have seen other designs, probably from a series of these rings. They have all had some kind of provenance leading to Norway. Makes sense with the 830S.
anyway, I think that is a fine looking wartime ring made available to the Germans when they 'visited' in 1940....Nice photos too! , thanks, G.

The submarine on the ring is easily identified. It's the same model that you used to fill with baking soda to play with in the tub. Ha-ha-ha-ha

Sorry for the dopey humor. It IS a VERY nice ring. I love the enameling. However, I firmly believe it's a "Destroyer" ring after looking at the design.

I got more interesting information. The ring is from the " 17 - U. Jagdflottille (17th Submarine Uboat hunting flotilla). There is a book about it.

HANS KOHL
Fischdampfer und Walfangboote im Krieg
Der Einsatz der 17. U-Jagdflottille vor Norwegen
E.S.Mittler & Sohn
ISBN 3813207900

Translation ;

HANS KOHL
Fish-steamboats and wale huntingboats in the war
The start of the 17. U-Jagdflottille in front of Norway
E.S.Mittler & Sohn
ISBN 3813207900

Here a nice link ;
http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/km/ujaeger/ujfl-17/17.htm
See picture four with text “Typ Seebeck 1938 “ . The crest is difficult to recognize on the bow.

If you wish to know more about the conception “Flotilla “;

Cheers,
Benten
