Saw this on WAC e-stand and thought it would be of interest:
http://www.wehrmacht-awards.co...wthread.php?t=370520 True very worn but how rare is it. I don't think there could be too many of these issued to an enlisted man period, let alone ones that are still in existence. I can see why he received the award because of a G.P.B. but why did he have such a low rank? Imagine how some unqualified ss officer's must have felt seeing a Rottenfuhrer with this type of award. Also, would you base originality of a worn ring like this strictly on the engraving alone? |

Short of having ESP I don't know how else you could do it! Jim |

Its not like the U S A Medal of Honor. You could get a ring just for being in the SS a certain lenth of time. The ring shown is like having a chained SS dagger without the chain.

If you were awarded the GPB or Coburg Badge you got a ring no matter your SS rank. Those awarded to EM's are very rare!

With only the last name in the ring. Without an award document unless it is an singular name, one would never know who it was or what his rank was. It can only be narrowed down to a good guess.

You'd go on the inner engraving. Coloring,,shape, seam etc..
Robins had that ring a very long time,,way before the invent of any SuperFake.. There used [?] to be a topic he started here with all his rings. Nice ring with a good history. |

The thread states there was only 1 SS mann with the name "Lehsau". The current seller purchased it from Robin Lumsden who I would consider a good source. Some collectors wouldn't want such a worn ring but it's got a lot of history & some character. I suspect this one won't be around long.

There used to be a lot of excellent topics here that have disappered over the years. That's one reason why I only post topical stuff any more. Posting anything enduring and worthwhile is a waste of time as it will eventually disappear. This forun will never be considered a realible place to post seriously until this problem is rectified. Of course GDC has to be owned by someone committed to doing this which is not the case today!! Jim |

The ammount of labor and info that collectors had placed into this site has all been for the most part been allowed to be wasted away. Most say that it is not understood why after many promises that the problem is being delt with over the last 3 years, it still has not been fixed. So many have stopped contibuting to what now many call the "GDC Blog". Then there are the few that say it was done on purpose!? Yep! You can call them the "conspiracy bunch". Sorry if I went off topic here boys. -serge- |

Again i know its off-topic, but yes, I have heard of the good things that the old GDC used to have, all the wealth of information.
What happened? Did anyone save some of the better threads? |

Looks like the ring found a new home.
