if real, more likely a grave site..... POW's usually weren't allowed to keep valuables by the Russians.

What I find more amazing is I questioned the other ring because it wasn't tanished , now they are all tanished .

I had to resize one and only pic available... Now I am trying to get more details about the place and better pics.. Probably it was Russian camp and this was personal collection of Russian soldier? In their camps you could find wonderfull things...
All those skulls looks like legion of immortals, threatening...

If this is a real find, it's very interesting. There's seems to be a little of everything, including torquoise which I don't believe was typical for German or Axis soldiers to wear.

My guess would be perhaps these were the holdings of an allied soldier that got dropped by mistake or when he was killed. It seems that the Americans had a practice of taking rings from dead Germans for souvenirs.

Ask your friend why they look to have been in a fire?

For the life of me I dont know why I am skeptical every time I see pics like this...first I see a few of the deaths head rings...then that crazy looking one with the jewel eyes and then the Turquoise piece,kinda looks like a Biker gangs loot from the 60's or items Buried in the mid 90's to age them.I would be willing to bet $50 US they are NOT ww2 Production.Maybe something out of Gumball machines even.

So, I was informed it was totaly 46 pieces, found in Northern Bohemia under big stone near small village. Surprisingly no Russian or POW camp, no escape road...Probably hiden by one person, former village citizen.
All those rings are made of alpacca, when found the guy played with them and trying to fit one to his finger he broke it :-( Pretty brittle!

The reason you're skeptical is because what you're looking at is a pile of junk. You can take that to the bank. (The few polished examples shown may be an exception and are probably not from the same batch.) One ring still has the nub of metal attached from where it was cast. The closeups show castings so horrible that there's NO WAY they ever could have been sold. This is nothing more than amateur metal casting gone horribly wrong.

Have you heard any more about these rings, Jan? For example, has the owner cleaned them up and taken more photos; are they going to sell them, etc.?

Look at the second photo. On the ring to the lower left of center, the narrow part of the band has a nub sticking up. This is from where it was cast. This is removed after casting. The idea that these are POW rings is nothing but fantasy. As stated previously, this is a VERY AMATEUR casting project gone terribly wrong. If they WERE buried, it's only because the caster was so ashamed of them, he buried them to hide his hideous creations.

agreed. You can't always believe what you see on these digger sites!

The ring Josias writes of still has the sprue stem on it.
