Hi all,I recently got this ring from a dealer and I would like any opinions please,he ring comes in what appears to be is original box,ive used the dealer many times so im hoping the ring is contempory. Cheers all Trev
That looks pretty good.. Can you get a photo of the maker mark to show us? Do you know anything about the maker? How about a shot of the box?
The styling looks right. Could be a custom job with his initials [FB] and Swastika.. Appears to be of a high quality... Any other markings inside band? Is it gold? Thanks , G.

Hello Gaspare, Many thanks for the welcome, ive tried to get a picture of the makers mark but either me or the camera dont seem to be up to the job,but the mark is CH which is enclosed in a sqare, also the ring is marked 585 and I was told its solid gold. Ive taken some pics of the box its in,the box is marked C HOLTER GOLDSCHMIED WELS. The ring is quiet heavy as well so im sure its gold.
Trev,, 585 is the same as our/US 14K.. I like the looks of that box so far.. If you like, gently try and lift up the cushion where the ring sits in the box.. Be very careful,,if it doesn't want to lift out leave it be. If it does come up and out have a look inside underneath to check for synthetic materials. But the appearence so far looks period..
I did a internet search for 'C HOLTER GOLDSCHMIED WELS'. everything that came up was in German which unfortunately I'm not too fluent in... If you are, plenty showed up, or maybe you can get some help and it will lead you to information about this jeweler as to the dates they were in business.. You could also try some of the 'silver' and 'silver hallmark' websites to ask for a lead about the jeweler..
The ring, construction method, embellishments, and the box all look to be from the period [late 20s - 40s].. A very nice looking ring and box you got there. If you find anything Trev on the mark/jeweler please let us know...thanks , G.

Gaspare, many thanks for your help with this ring its much appreciated, ive all ready thort of trying to get inside of the box out and im sorry but its well and truely stuck down and I dont want to wreck the box so have left it alone. I have allready done a net search and got the same as you, lots of german and I dont spaeak it either and I dont know anyone that does, but I do intend to research it further,I bought the ring on a whim I usualy only bother with tinnies but this one took my eye,im glad I did its proofing very interesting. I will of course put any results I find about it here, once again many thanks my friend. Regards Trev
Very nice ring. The only help I can give at this time is that the smith was probably from the town of Wels, Austria. So I would proceed in that direction. Fortunately you already have the makers name and his mark. Like G stated, all you really need now is to research the company and dates he was in business. Please keep us informed and let us know what you find out. Thanks for showing your find and good luck.
