Seems the ring is cut off carefully; see the right side of the cut. The cut has the same corrodation as the rest of the ring.
I think the ring was cut off and thrown away....do you have another idea about it?

A bit more left is a reparation of the ring band.

BB and G thanks for your reply! Smile

G, it's always good to compare in how far rings have a resemblance.
The repro ring in the link you mentionned, has a very plentifull decoration, imo in the Russian taste/style.
My ring is more in a sober Artdéco style.
Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Vet44 at Wehrmacht awards posted a similar style of ring a couple of months back: Vet44 ring.

BB, that ring is a fake.. There are fault lines from the mold and pitting from too much heat all over that ring..At least Bentens is smooth..

The band design on these rings have gotten worse over the years as copys of copys are made. Compare on the link the ring I bought years ago to ksfinley's then to the one at the end of that topic. A natural progression of the details going away as the ring gets copied. eventually the skull gets switched,,the flower details on the band get simplefied so its easyer to reproduce..
Search as I and others have we've never been able to come up with anything before 1990 on these type rings regardless of skull and loss of detail on flower/leaves.
I hold on to mine as maybe something will come up,, a photo, even a ad showing that band would do for me...

G,
I agree, looks real rough with alot of pitting all over. The line can be seen running from the cheek bone over the top center of the crossed bones. Is that correct G ?

Nice ring benten, I think benten should hold on to his as well. Smile

no problem BB,,its good to see it. Now if I understand the WA member correctly,,he says he had it a long time and dug it himself! No matter, its a fake.
Mikee is correct seeing the fault lines. There are more as well as the burn/pitting areas.

The flower behind the crossbones is supposed to be a poppy and appears on all these rings.
There is another skull ring with much smaller skull and smaller poppies on the sides that is considered a good one and has some history..... Mine, Bentens, so far nothing ,,but myself and I'm sure Benten will be fine with waiting it out Big Grin
