Does anyone know why SS honor rings have no type of hallmarks for silver content like other silver products ?

From what little I apparentely know about hallmarks as evidenced in that "Huhnlein" dagger thread; since these were awards and NOT items to be sold no hallmarking was required.

In Germany sold or not, jewelry and some smaller wares were "not required" to be marked. Some did, some didn't. Same with awards. Some did, some didn't.
