Nice original cap but I think the eagle and button are replacements, is it me but the eagle looks gold in the picture and the gold button is correct for this group but should be a smooth one with this style cap, the pebbled button is found on the heavy wool caps. Other than this two minor things it's right, good find!

Isn't it odd that of the millions of caps produced for the SA over the period 1933-45, very few come to light?

Agreed--and the ones that do are usually crushed and/or moth-eaten!

I agree that the eagle and button have most likely been replaced. The eagle should be aluminum color, and the button should be SMOOTH silver or gold. Great cap in a WONDERFUL color!!

The price is right in the collector to collector range for certain..

Now you have to ask yourself, given the fact that these caps so rarely appear, and in good condition, and the items that need replaced are easily replaceable AND you will never find one at that price unaltered...

Do you jump? Razz

Hell yes!! Depending on price, of course. All you need is a smooth button, and an aluminum eagle. I happen to have an extra one of those domed, smooth buttons. It has the proper flat double "spreader" type of attachment. It says, "Extra Fein" on the back. These are VERY hard to find. I may sell it if it has a proper home. I can't stress enough - The button could be smooth gold OR silver. Since the button was almost certainly replaced, you'll NEVER know which apple green Gruppe it was from originally. Remember - After 1940, ALL SA buttons (except maybe Marine SA) were silver colored. Theoretically, the smooth SILVER would be better anyway, because it would then include both Pommern AND Thuringen after 1940. I'll post a pic if you're interested.

A pebbled front button is not incorrect for a kepi issued after the 1939 uniform changes.
