Hi, I finally have bought(and could afford) my first NSDAP Tunic. It is a blue piped Ortsgruppe tunic with the tabs of an Blockleiter (golden L and golden buttons) It has an RZN label inside ans is in a good shape. Now I would like to put it on a display doll. Finding fitting pants does not seem to be a problem, but what kind of shirt and tie do go with the set? I checked the organisationsbook of the NSDAP and in one volume it says a white shirt and brown tie, then in an other a brown shirt and tie and then a white shirt and black tie! What is the correct one? Also I see, that there are differt kind of tabs around , 1 version 2nd ect, If I am not mistaken, mine is the 3rd version and the tunic reflects the time 1938 and before?? what is differts to the version of the 1939 tunic? Does with mine the brown leather belt with the golden round bucke go, or the Zweindornschalle?? I have the Book Uniforms of the NSDAP by Mr Clar, but here only pictures are shown and no reference at all. Is there a good book for this topic out?? The color of the shirt would depend on where the uniform was being worn. White shirt and brown tie were worn for formal occasions while the brown shirt and tie would be worn for the everyday service uniform.

The only difference was the collar tabs, kampfbinde and piping color of the Kreisleitung and Gauleitung. The tunic cut stayed bsically the same from it's inception to the end of the war.

Thanks! One more question: What kind of visor hat goes with it, is it the one which has only the eagle and cockade on the cloth safran colorband or is itthe one with the eagle wreath cockade and on a brownish velvet kind band? maybe you can show me a picture of the fitting one , so I can go and seek for the hat? It's usually the transitional periods where everything gets messed up.However, the NSDAP made sure that even the smallest village got the regulations and by the late 30's, there was no excuse not to be wearing the correct garb and accouterments.

Very true. However, period pictures exist of lower ranking political leaders wearing wearing 3rd pattern insignia. There was a 18 month wear out period allowed for changing insignia. As the war progressed, it is likely that this change out to 4th pattern insignia waswidely ignored. For example, I would guess that 99% of the political brownshirts in existance bear 3rd and not 4th pattern insignia. I am sure that some of this was due to the owner being in active military service.
