Picked up some buttons a while back at the SOS for a friend. The seller had a few boxes of what looked like period buttons in unopened boxes.
Well, I picked up what my friend wanted and grabbed a few for myself.. Believe it or not I'm just getting around to inspecting them.. This is what they look like:

Gaz..i have seen this type of button on a police tunic, as well as an allgemeine SS tunic as two of the frontal buttons..

the cartouche sure looks like the proofmark on a police sword, doesn't it? Cool

Gaspare,,, Your button looks simular to the Allgemein/WSS but Iv never seen the stamped sig-runen in that block version aka Edged weapon/Degan before on a button. And really this should be accompanied with the RZM stamp,,, Confused If original it could be Police?

Isn't it the copy righting of Dr Diebitsch the designer of the SS sword and M36 chained dagger?

Yes, its the Diebitsch SS culture 'touch' mark..

I didn't even think of looking at the box. The seller just said they were 'new old stock' buttons he happened upon and was selling them rather cheaply.
He had these silver ones,,,and black buttons, the same style, 2 versions, one magnetic ,the other non magnetic..
Now I wish I would have looked closer at that box!!!

"RSS" had nothing to do with the "SS" it's the maker marking of Richard Sieper & Söhne, isn't it ?
