A NOTE TO THE WEDNESDAY SOS TABLE SET UP VOLUNTEERS

Once again, I will be in charge of the Wednesday table set up. As in years past, all table holders and their helpers are welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will again be able to set up their goods as their reward. Even if you feel you are not in the physical shape to ‘toss’ tables, you are still welcome to volunteer. We have plenty of light and administrative work to do. However, because there have been a very few individuals in past years that have come in after the work was done and taken an unfair advantage of this early set up, we have had to make a few changes to how we will do things.

First, as in the past, if you want to work please be in the hall no later 12:00 noon on Wednesday. We will organize the volunteers; issue special Wednesday passes, and start work soon after that time. At 12:30 pm we will close the hall to further entrance without a pass. This will be enforced by uniformed police officers.

After the hall is set up, which generally takes about three hours if all goes well, the volunteers will be release for a short time to refresh themselves, get a bit to eat and get the vehicles ready to drive in. The exact time you can reenter the hall will be announced after the set up but will likely be between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. Please take a look at the new “Drive-in and Drop-off” instructions, listed in another thread, for our new location in South Hall B as it is a little different this year. Remember, you will need your special Wednesday pass to get back in with your goods. Because we have filled the hall with as many tables as possible and still keep the Fire Marshal happy, you will not be able to pull up in the isles as has been done in the past. You will need to pull into the drive in area at the rear of the hall and unload you vehicle to your table. After you have unloaded, please move your vehicle to the packing lot before you begin your set up. If we all work together this will go quickly and smoothly, and give everyone plenty of time to set up and do a little business. The hall will be kept open for the volunteers until 8:00 pm.

Just like past years, you do not need to call anyone or sign up to volunteer, just show up on time and be ready to work, and don’t forget your work gloves! If you are not interested in working and just want to get in early, please do us and yourself a favor and come on Thursday morning at the regular dealer set up time. We don’t need ‘camp followers’ taking up floor space on Wednesday. There are jobs for all that want to help, but no room for onlookers. We look forward to seeing you and to a quick and easy hall set up.

We don't "skimp" on tables. We give you the biggest we can. If you think about it we could make quite a bit more money and get quite a few more tables in the hall if we eliminated the 8 footers and went to all 6 footers-and if we eliminated the drive in loading-etc, etc. --but we don't want to do that-'cause you would'nt like it--and we want you to LOVE the SOS. Wink-and look forward to it every year.
