Hi guys,

I hope this is the correct place to post this. I have an SS document stamp. I do not know much about it. I was wondering how common these are, and what people know about them. I wonder what this thing is worth... Has anyone else seen one like this?

I have seen these before. They appear at every MAX and SOS show and the asking price is over $100.00. I think I paid about $65.00 each. I bought 3 different ones and they are all nice, but fakes...so far. Maybe someone else has an opinion?

Thanks for your opinion Kingtiger. I am 99% sure this one is authentic. I bought it about 7 years ago from a guy in Germany who had it, along with several other authentic items (papers)from the war. They were stashed away for many years. Apperantly they are pretty secretive with III Reich things over there. Not very good in the public eye I hear. If it is fake, it would have had to be a very early production, early 70s at the newest. It looks pretty well used also. I have never seen this mark on any documents. Has anyone else? One of these mysteries that eat away at the back of my mind. I wonder.....

That one is a little more detailed in the stamp than the ones I have so I wish you good fortune with it. There were some other posts on these. Ron Weiand may be able to help you here on this one. He posted his thoughts on some a few posts down.

Thanks Mark. I can't believe I missed the post on these a little way down the forum! I wonder if there are any specific signs I can look for in determining if this thing is absolutely genuine. Anyone have any ideas? I didn't realize that these things were actually targets of the forgers. I wonder why they would want to forge them anyway. It does not seem like they would be worth that much if genuine anyway. Its not like its an SS dagger or Knight's Cross or something. Based on how I got this one, and my gut feeling, I still believe it is real. It is a bit disconcerting to hear that they made fakes in Poland in the 60s though. That is only 20 years apart, something from the 60s would likely not look much newer than something from the 40s. Now this thing is really screwing with my mind!

I would say this is a fantasy item. All the stamps I've seen have had the unit/division designation on it.This one is designed after a SS officers belt buckle. Confused

Krause , don't let it play with your head..It is a fake period.
While they did make some bogus stamps in the 1960s this one is a dead ringer for a early 1990s Polish fake..Go to any large city in Poland and with a bit of hunting in gift shops you'll turn this exact one up as well as many other varieties..I've seen at least 20 different fake stamps there and I'm sure there are plenty more.... , G.

Thanks for your opinions guys! What a shame these things are faked. I wonder why people would want to fake them. It just seems like it would make better sense to fake something that would be of a higher value if one was going to fake something. Oh well, at least I didn't pay much for it!

K - that's the view of the forgers: if enough people are conned, a) they'll make lots of money, and b) since "it wasn't too much cost,"
no one will go badk to kick the s*** out of them!

I bought this thing from a guy in Germany off of Ebay several years ago. I think I paid about $25 for it. I had bought some other authentic items from him so I did not really doubt the authenticity of the stamp. I guess it will make a cool paperweight for my desk! This guy probably thought it was real too. What really ****es me off, are the fake daggers and medals out there!
