This is a scan of a photo in one of the albums I own. I haven't been able to ID the arm badge in this photo in any of my books. The small bagde almost looks like a sword on a black oval background, no? What is it and what does it mean?
The man also appears to wear a solid black armband with a small dot or symbol on it. There is one near the cuff also that I have seen before, but am unsure what it represents. Below is a full shot, a closeup of the badges, and a thumbnail link to a very large scan of the entire photo. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! Jim Full size very large scan - click to open: |

Hmmm..
I think he may be Spanish, serving on the Ost front. I will check my reference books! |

Hi Jerry,
I have found out that the officer in question is actually Italian. The cuff symbol is his rank (appears to be a Capitano), however I have not yet been able to identify the black arm band and the sleeve badge above it. Thanks for your help... Hopefully someone can help with the other two items? Jim |
