Heres a 60+ page poetry & art book that has a Hitler drawing, mountain scenes w/political symbols, and lots of dates from 1923-1934.
One drawing that has me stumped is this one.
Can anyone guess who this might be?
THANKS

Dean,

I'm fairly certain that your drawing is none other than Friederich Ludwig Jahn, 1778-1852.
Also known as "Turnvater Jahn." (the father of gymnastics) He received this title for founding the German gymnastics movement, which was meant as a training for young boys and men to be able to fight off Napolean's armies. The National Socialists likened him to Hitler and his unification efforts. They said, "The Jahn spirit is the Hitler spirit ..."

Towards the last days of the Second World War
they named a reserve grenadier unit after him for his efforts to arm the German people.

Are these drawings in an artists sketchbook or an actual printed and bound copy of the work of different artists? I'm not clear on that ..?

Either way, nice!

Bill

Thanks for the input,Bill.
Your guess sounds right on as I've been told the book belonged to a young girl from Austria that was part of the German Turnverein(gymnastic association) a so called Germanic Sportsorganization.
The book consist of about a dozen or so original scetched & colored pictures with about 50 pages of what looks to be like signings of a yearbook ,dated out of sequence, from 1923-1936. Some of the penmanship is beautiful, some is not.
I don't know what any of these written pages are about, but by the pictures you can tell the owner was very patriotic.
I'll post more pages if there's any interest.
