Can anyone give me any information about the following SS Ausweis?
Who is the SS Obersturmfuhrer and what was the 8. SS Standarte. Is any information known about Willi Schier.

Many thanks John

I have found out a bit more on the owner of SS Ausweis.
He was in the SS-Totenkopfverbände (KL) working at Frantenau. I have only found one reference to this being a KZ or KL.
I think the 13/8 reference is 13th Company of the 8 SS-Totenkopfverbände.
Is there anyone who can add any more to this?

Hi John:

Willi Schier was in the Sturm 13/ 8. SS-Standarte (Hirschberg) at the time of his acceptance into the Allgemeine-SS. This was possibly a reserve company due to his age. He may also have also been a WWI veteran. Evidently he was not a member of the NSDAP at the time of his entrance. His relatively high SS number is the result of his entrance into the SS in 1940. The highest numbers I have encountered so far are in the low 500,000 range. Those joining the Waffen-SS directly with no prior membership in the Allgemeine-SS did not receive a SS-Ausweis number. There may be more information available on him if he has an SS Enlisted Man File or Race & Settlement File in the National Archives.

Enjoy!
