Here is a photo of my 1st type Coburg Badge. This is the first awarded version of the badge. On the reverse note the needle style pin. The catch was period replaced. The rare Coburg badge was only awarded 436 times.

Does anyone have an RZM version that they would like to post to show the differences between the 1st pattern and later RZM styles?

Here's an interesting sketch done by Hitler showing the early design of the Coburg badge.

That piece just talks to you. I have seen other period pieces with the same type of catch repair.

Hi John, yes the pin and catch on the 1st type badges were very fragile. From what I have found this award was equal to or higher ranked than the Blood Order. As the Old Fighters use to say "But were you at Coburg?" Best, Erich
