HJ Portable Medal

Item is about 80mm in diameter and solid Brass.
Does anybody know anything about this? It looks like that it must have been mounted on a plaque or something like that. Thank you for your input. JME

Jürgen,

That's another beauty you've found there! Smile
I've never seen this early piece before, but I agree that it must've come off a plaque.

For those that might be interested that great rune-looking inscription reads: "When the fathers break their swords, the sons will forge them anew ..."

This would make for a good addition to someone's HJ collection, very nice. Wink

Hope you've been well?

Willi

Hi Dough
So you have seen another one of these around? Was it like mine or did it come with the plaque? You say that this was for commemorating raising the Flag. Was this raising of the Flag an annual event or just a one time deal? Would appreciate some more information on this. Thank you all for your help! Anybody has another one please show a picture. Thank you. JME

IT WOULD BE A ONE TIME COMMEMORATIVE FOR BANN 187 and was probably presented to the leaders and dignataries at the ceremony. Could be a door plaque also

Paul, exactly..one time only..only other time would be a re-dedication which of course would entail a whole new round of commemoratives!
