We've been hitting updates on most badges lately after a seemingly stagnat period.

Let's take a look at some KM Destroyer badges. My felling is that these are only 2nd to the High Seas Fleet in terms of aesthetics.

Here's mine. I had some reservations about this particular badge when I had acquired it some months back. Just about everyone has assured me the example is period, but the hardware has always been what's kept the hamster wheel spinning in my mind. Eventually, i'll need to upgrade to an "accpeted" example.

Anyway, here she goes.

Joe,
Great Schwerin. Wow. Incredible example.

I don't know how I had missed that thread. It was only started at the end of March. If you want to roll this thread into the topic you had started, please do by all means. No real need for a duplicate.

Lets keep this rolling. Other examples?

We'll leave both topics up. Perhaps yours will get further along than mine did.

I had revisited the possibility of this badge being a repro on another forum. It's always bothered me. However, I doubt i'll ever get any type of definitive answer any time soon. There are a couple other identical badges floating around there today and the owners all belive they are legit. I do have my doubts.

Yes, I recall we came to no conclusion on this badge. I can direct you to some nice examples if you are looking to upgrade.

If I recall your badge received fair reviews on GCA and apparently a badge like yours got a thumbs up on WA. Why the turn around?

Hi Joe,
I posted her at WAF, and we had some good discussion that included some very knowledgeable collectors. At the end of the day, it sort of came up as an inconclusive piece. Some say good, some say bad. Those of you who belong to WAF, it's worth a read in the KM section. Good thought and some articulate, well thought out answers that make sense.

Just a follow up. I've listed the badge for sale. It's available for a collector who has a higher skill level with badges and has a certain level of confidence. I'm selling her for what I paid, inclusive of shipping and PP. I'd like to recoup my cost, so I can stick with accepted, known examples in the future.....that's if I even decide to stick it out with badges. I'm more of a casual badge collector and now know i'll need to spend the extra $$ for a known quantity. I've been debating totally jumping ship. If anyone feels confident in the badge and is interested, it's listed on WAF. If it doesn't ever sell, than it doesn't ever sell. Either way, it really is a good looking piece. If bad, it's a well done repro.

Thank you everyone for your opinions and insight into this piece. The last week has been a wonderful and highly educational time for me. Humbling as well, but that's just how the hobby goes.

Take care and good collecting friends,
T
California
