This was in the bottom of someones wardrobe for over 50 years. It was discovered after they died recently. As soon as probate has cleared it will be up for sale.

I have no interest in buying it at all as I only collect daggers or knowledge of what any of it is. Basically I am trying to find out what it all is and what the rough value. I can then list it for sale here for them (if they want me to).

Thanks Smile

Also was it typical to sew all these and patches to a belt as a war souvenier?.

From the pictures it looks like you have a nice navy group except the buckle is for the NSKK with the silver roundel, the two medals to the left side are 2nd class EK spnges, the eagle is for either a navy cap or the white summer tunic, the auxillery cruiser badge is the one with the gilt wreath, then you have a minesweeper badge then a destoyer badge. The cloth is a navy officers breast eagle and the others I'm not sure of what exactly they are but they are navy and medical related. Very nice grouping, the pips are rank pips and the colored roundel is a cap cocarden(think I spelled it right). If you get them can we see more pics of the badges?

Hopefully the destroyer, the minesweeper, and auxil. cruiser badges wern't destroyed when someone made the belt. Are they fastend on, devoid of thier pins and catches, or just pinned onto the belt complete with thier hardware?

Apparantly all the cloth patches are sewn on with a metallic silver thread. The owner said you cant see it in the pictures but it is really nice stuff. He said all the badges are pinned on and he will send me more pictures of them in te next few days removed from the belt, back and front.

Thanks for all your help

Hi---I suspect that what you have there is referred to as a "HATE BELT". GIs and others put together collections of enemy insignia for various reasons. I have seen them from WWI and I once had one with all Spanish insignia from the Spanish American War. This appears to be a very nice example of one with naval connections from WWII.

Here are some better pics, they are all pinned on the belt so not damaged by all accounts. What is a fair value for this lot??
