Dean, two nice examples. Thanks for sharing. Smile

-----------------------------------------

Update on my Meybauer packeted medal. It is marked on the inside curve of the ring with a 7 laying on it's side.
Will attempt to get a scan but it's a difficult spot. I've had it for 30 some years and just yesterday stumbled across the mark. Smile

Here's a recent addition. Maker is Fritz Zimmermann, Stuttgart.

Maker's mark, #6. . This is the only maker's mark that I've seen with a period after the number. Did any other maker do this?

Keeps us from guessing if it's a 6 or a 9 that way. Smile

I'd guess it's a 6 with a period as Raymond suggests. Perhaps when we see another one without a dot, it will be a 9. May have been done to distinguish between the two makers? Has anyone seen it on any other type of medal as well?

Russell

I'm usually lucky if I can make out the numbers let alone see a period. Smile Anyone got an example of an EKII by Fritz Zimmermann? That might tell.

------------------------------------------------------

Check page #77 in THE IRON CROSS of 1939 by: Gordon Williamson.
The example by Friedrich Keller apears to have a period. (66.)

Joe, it does look like a period on the Friedrich Keller. I don't have an example to check with but maybe I'll find one this weekend.
On both the EKII ans EKI there is a period after the 6. I wonder what Liefergsmeinschaft Scmuckhandwerker (#9) used? Gordon doesn't list this maker in his book on EK's but I think I saw it listed as a maker of EKII's on WAF.
Here's the MM #6 on an EKII.

I've discovered no images of 9's.
It's good to know about the 6. and 66. both having periods.
