Just picked up yesterday;

Had a few questions: were these ever made with the aluminum fittings? (not that mine has them) and what were the years that these were made?? I could look on wikipedia, but I trust this source a lot more.

DRGM on the hanger, and on the scabbard the leather looks either repaired, or was that how they were crafted?

These daggers were made in amuminum, but only by one maker (Helbig). They made these knives in "nickel silver" (like other makers (and your SMF example) only very early on, then switched to an aluminum fitted piece.
As for the years of production, I don't know exactly. I believe that this knife was initially issued in 1934 and I assume was "discontinued" with all other daggers in 1942 (?). If someone knows better, please feel free to corrct me on this.
Nice original knife (and sword) though!
Congrats,
Johnny

Jachyra- Your scab. doen't look to have been repaired (IMO). The joining seam of the leather shows a little due to the leather losing some of it's pebbling due to normal wear and being rubbed smooth.
