I am a "Ring' guy so...Here is an RAD Hewer I wanted you to authenticate. I have never held a real German Dagger before [ blasphemy] so I cannot tell if it is light or any other variations. Why I think it may not be real, is: the metal on the handle pits and bumps, reminds me of replica cheap metal. It doesnt feel thick and sturdy However I have seen the exact dagger on reputable militaria sites, and it has the same features. The blade seems thin too. My friend who gave it to me SWEARS up and down it is OG [ we know how much weight that hasFrown The handle looks old and has yellowed. That beats the other features .The inscription and the Alcoso brand look good. But it just doesnt feel right, and the others I have compared the Adlerkopf looks shiny and thick. There is this corrosion, dark and rough onhead and handle. As I studied I think I read they made two sizes of this dagger, true? This could be a late cheap skinny one, or perfect for all I know!Dagger is about 15 and 1/4 inches long pommel to point. I will let the experts decide, hope I can get pictures downloaded! For sale if wortha damn! Danke Kameraden! Eddie zipguneddie@charter.net

Not a hewer but a leader RAD dagger.
Is it possible to have other photos? Scabbard, blade, maker mark?

As already said it is (the pommel of) a RADleader´s hewer (NOT "dagger"). In german: Haumesser (hewer!) für RADFührer.
Due to servere corrosion and the very typical appearance ot the liftings it seems to me to be a period hewer.
Naturally we would need a lot of more pics (as said I can only see the pommel-eagle´s head) to be able to make a serious statement about the whole hewer.
After your posting you only have to click the "Reply" button and you can attach another picture and so on.
Or you might sent the pics to me at gdcguc@hotmail.com and I will show them for you.
Regards,

"Never look for sqare eggs" as an owner of an original FHH-dagger uses to say.
