Hi, I'm a new member and have an old dagger that I'm not sure of the origin. To me it looks german or italian but, im not expert. Im going to include a pic if I can after I get it from storage. The main thing that has me baffled is that it looks ornate, solid blade with solengen seal on it at the beginning of the blade where hilt is at but, also the hilt looks like it had handles that probably stuck out a few inches but, they are gone now (possibly broken) The Hilt or handle is solid steel color and has a big talon of i guess an eagle holding the world at the end of it. I havent seen it in pictures ive been searching for but, ive been mainly looking at german ww2 blades. The blade itself is more triangular with no sharp edges except for the point is very sharp, no swastika or anything like it so i dont know if it was removed or what?? the scabbard has 2 rings on it and is brown leather with a metal end at the end of it for i guess the tip of the blade. I think from looking at it that the hilt is what makes it different than some of the ones ive seen online. the handle like is said is metal made from the same material that the blade is but, looks like it was wrapped to have that old wrapped leather appearance in metal...weird..I got it from my dad who got it from his father but, i dont know where it originally came from. I know with the solengen seal on it that it must be german origin? and the scabbard im thinking cuz of the world with the eagle talon around it that it must be military. Any help or ideas would be appreciated
