Has anyone heard of "KARL WOLFERTZ & SOHNE SOLINGEN" as a makers mark on a LW boot knife before?
Unfortunatly I havent got any pics for you at the moment, but the name is written in a bow with Solingen in a straight line underneth.
I could`nt find that MM in any lists anywhere.

I have just discovered that the knife is infact a "Infanterimesser 42".

Does anyone know if "KARL WOLFERTZ & SOHNE SOLINGEN" was a common maker of these?

Here are some pics. Unfortunatly they are not very good, but its all I`ve got. It is not possible to see the MM on these pics, but it reads what I wrote above here.
Someone has made a little personal touch to this by adding a LW-pin to the grip, but this is not of any interest here.

It is mainly the genuinity and the maker that is essencial here.

Bis,,the knife itself looks good.
The pin on handle it the 'Zivilabzeichen fur Angestellte und Arbeiter der Luftfahrtverwaltung',,,that is, a civilian employees pin for those that work in the aviation field during the war..

Thanks, but this I allready know.

Is this a "Infanterimesser 42" or is it a LW boot knife?

What about the maker then.
Is this a known or common maker of these?

BISMARCK,

Unless it has the LUFTWAFFE AMPT stamped on it somewhere it would be difficult to call the knife a LUFTWAFFE BOOT KNIFE.

As for the manufacture's name, I am not familiar with this particular maker.

Richard:

Karl Wolfertz & Sohne is listed in the Fisher reference as a maker of pocket knives.

Their maker mark is a large 'W' with a 'C' attached to the first leg of the 'w', a sword above the middle leg and an 'S' above the far right leg. Sorry, I don't have an easy way to get a picture of this.

Richard:

This is a bit of a problem, because I dont have the knife here with me.

I am posting this on behalf of a fellow collector here in Norway. So I dont have a lot of info about it at all.

I have asked him to study the knife carefully to look for a luftampt-stamp.

Just got mail from the owner and there is no other stamp than the MM, so it must be an infantry-knife.

Thanks Gaspare, I didn't know what the pin was and appreciate the information.
