No real serious buyers apparently for this set up. I have a problem with the appearance of the grip which he says is real ivory. It could be just the photo.

Overall I think this is a nice dagger and would solicit opinions on why it is not selling and/or what is wrong with it.

The last time I put anything made from Ivory onto eBan they were on my case within 6 hours, making me feel that I was resposible for the decline in the heffelump population, global warming and the state of the nation as a whole. This for a 3" high statue of St George and the Dragon circa. 1860. It will be interesting to see if they pull this seeing as he's declared it to be Ivory.

IMO-this is one of the new fakes. It looks too new-scabbard is really not the proper type for this era of dagger. Grip looks new. Poor photos. Hangers are not shown enough so that originality can be determined. If real it would be gone in a second. Better photos might help. This dagger has been listed before and did not sell.

From what little I know of these pieces, I have to agree that it appears to be one of the new fakes popping up on Eban. They all seem to have these bright & shiny "ivory" grips & the back to back squirrels are very deeply stamped. Probably good enough to skunk a newbie by sight from the pics. A shame that's what we're dealing with. Were it real, Houston would have scooped it up post haste.

I also believe it to be a repop. Priced way to cheap. Not the way I like to see genuine Ivory after years of wear.

Someone's going for it. I put on a feeler bid of $450 and was outbid immediately.
