Hello,

Can you please give me your opinion about this dagger? I'd in mind that only Karl Burgsmüller was producer. What's the correct price for this dagger?

Thanks a lot.
JC

What I can see from the pics this is a legit, original NPEA dagger by EICKHORN. Features generally are typical for EICKHORN (see all special explainations below).
There are several legit marks for NPEA daggers as also eg. WMW.
These certain daggers by EICKHORN (those without the chain) first were called Unterrichtsleiter-Dolch because of the eagle, but as nobody (to my best knowledge) has seen a legit EICKHORN without the eagle it is now assumed that it is the EICKHORN´s form for their pupils daggers.
I am not sure about the frog, I do not think it is typical NPEA but it is known that those daggers from time to time originally were worn with untypical frogs.
Condition is average but as it is one of the rarer daggers and in collectibel condition I would think it is desirable. Look thoruogh some dealer sites, they are currently offered and prices can be seen.
I also have to mention that these late (concerning mark) "normaly" do come with a pot metal eagle with silver wash so this eagle has to be examined by an experienced collector if it is original to this certain piece as it looks like an aluminium eagle to me.
It also does not look totally untouched because it has a felt between blade and crossguard which would be typical for BURGSMÜLLER pieces but NOT for EICKHORN ones (up to now I have not seen an EICKHORN with this certain feature).

Have to agree with Wotan, the frog does not look original to the piece. Maybe Ron or Dons chime in.

Original NPEA Student Dagger by Eickhorn. Frog is NOT NPEA, but an M98 Field Bayonet frog.
Condition, especially for an NPEA by Eickhorn is low, but all appears correct (tang should have the Eickhorn stamp-see my new reference book) and the TM for Eickhorn is the later one.

Not an authority on these daggers but love the uncleaned, out of the woodwork,non-mint and been there appearance of this peice. Also like the darkening of the motto.
Although the frog is not typical I'd like to think it was worn in this fashion (aren't there other period peices and in wear photos demonstrating this).
What material are the crossguards and eagle?
