Hi all,
I am a new collector, I had just bought an SS Sword from an auction. The detail is : Postwar copy of an SS officer's Damascus blade sword. "Totenkopf" insignia mounted on the wire wrapped black wood grip. Nickeled round pommel, reverse "D" knuckle-bow and oak leaf ferrule. Underside stamped with "SS" runes. 30 1/2" Damascus blade with "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" and oak leaves in gold. Also marked "ECHT DAMAST – P. MULLER" in gold. (This blade is probably one of the edged weapons made by Master Swordsmith Paul Muller after 1945. Muller is known to have been commissioned to make some pieces in the 1950's and early 1960's.) Black enameled steel scabbard with a "basketweave" throat (marked "SS") and tip. I would like to know whether it is a reproduction copy and did it made by Paul Muller. Thanks ![]() |

Yes , the blade is post war... Yes Muller did make some postwar blades like this. BUT, I think the blade was made by Robert Kurten (he passed some time ago). He worked with Muller and had use of his trademarks before and after Muller died, . I have never seen a sword with Robert's name on it but he made many of them.....A person would have to look close at this thing. There are now modern damascus blades with the same Muller trademark that were made in the last few years (Indian and European). If the blade is real Turkish pattern damascus it is worth something just for that.. Soooo... just because it has Echt Damast P. Muller on the blade does not always mean he made it.. Regards: James
