Very very nice example. Robert Klaas pieces were very very classy! Quality was higher than some of thier mass produced saber counterparts.

Is the hilt on your example aluminum or brass?

Saber knot is most certainly National Socialist Germany. I have a couple fabric army saber knots. What's nice, is these don't suffer the wrath of thier leather counterparts from the effects of time, age, and drying.

Can you post a photo of the MM? I'm curious to see the MM on your piece. I would guess the saber is a later produced piece..probably based on the aluminum grip wiring. Typically, and I cannot think of an example to the contrary, the earlier pieces are completed with the brass wiring. I do have to say that her condition is excellent for a brass hilted saber. So often, we see the brass hilted sabers devoid or nearly devoid of thier gilting.

Gr,
As I figured. Sometimes we see some odd variants in thier MM, but more often than not we don't. Whe often see blades marked with a distributer mark, like William Gunther, or Rath, etc. To the uninitiated sword collector, or anyone who favors collecting war badges or daggers, the smaller details can be confusing and overlooked at times.

It's safe to assume at this point you have a wonderfully collectable, NICE Klaas piece. This puppy oughta' hold her value. Would be tough to upgrade this one.

I was reading this post and I love the edge that you have so I decided to share my two that I own. I tried to get a close up of the MM on the sword and that is the best I can do. Mark
