Hi Guy's
Just was wondering about common and uncommon makers of the luftwaffe sword, I can guess that Weyersberg, SMF, and Eickhorn are common but what about Alcoso and Gebruder. Anyone have any idea or is there any previous discussion on this topic i missed while looking through the old topics.
The reason i'm asking is i have a offer to buy a Alcoso Luft (block letters over ACS scale 38-40) with aluminum fittings for a very reasonable price.

Eric, go for it. A Luft sword in your hands is worth every penny.

Just seen the luft sword today and it has the 38-40 TM but the fittings are plated steel on the scabbard and plated nickel pommel, crossguard and hilt. I was not sure if this would be correct for the Alcoso firm to use these fittings at such a late priod. I did read in TW book that the aluminum fittings were used in 37. Anyone know of or have a Alcoso with these fittings with a 38-40 blade.
Thanks
Eric

Eric,

My Alcoso Luft sword is as you describe. No problem. Just to illustrate an anomoly about materials versus period of manufacture, I have a beautiful gilt brass Eickhorn 'von Stein' model army sword with the post 41 over the shoulder squirrel tm.

Go figure.

It sounds fine. If the price is right, grab it. Luft swords generally seem to retain thier value, if not continue to increase.

In other words, "go for it".
