For those of you that like very rare Hirschfängers here's one that is not seen very often at all,I know of no others. Marked WK&C under the clamshell, I cannot find it in any of my WKC references but this pattern is shown in the Imperial Eickhorn catalouge as pattern # 164.
A beautiful piece of Art Noveaux.Circa 1890-1910 I should think. I like it a lot.

With hanger and knot, though I'm not sure the knot is right it certainly goes well with it.

My Thanks to Bill for the pictures.

Wow, what a clean design. I like the synergy between the bottom of the clamshell and the frog stud.

Nice one Gary! I particularly like the boar's head lug. This is Razorback country, so any of those would look good on this side of the pond also. What type variant knot is that? Confused

Hi Mike

Sorry I didn't see your post before, the knot pictured is one I picked up at the last Stuttgart show, it was listed as a forestry portepee, I liked it so I bought it, I'm not quite sure what it is for. This one I am led to believe is a Portepee for Braunschweiger Oberforster which if it turns out to be true is the correct portepee for this Gala hirschfänger.

Thanks

Gary

Gary,

Here's the Braunschweiger forestry cap-device that just came in for the display and I thought the guys might like to see it too ..?

When I get a good scan of the photograph I'll post the fin de siecle studio shot of a Braunsch.-Förster wearing the exact same unit.

Just a fantastic dagger!

Best!

Bill

Thanks Bill

I missed the badge on the website, glad you managed to pick it up, looking forward to seeing the finished display and the picture of the Braunschweiger Förster.

Fellas,

Take a look at this impressive gentleman, he kinda looks like a young Paul Newman, no?

Actually, it'd be better to focus on his cap insignia ... Big Grin Wink

Best regards!

Bill
