I have seen the "upgrade ferrules" at the Johnson site for several years, but have not seen a Forestry Cutlass with the Eagle and Swastika in the ferrule area that I believed to be pre 1945. Can you tell me if any were produced before the end of WW2? Who made them?

I have found DIRECTLY FROM A US ARMY WWII VETERAN a eagle and swastika one by Clemen & Jung and Houston knows of other originals.
This one has a solid brass hilt, so they were made before the Germans started using aluminum on the hilts, so well early in the war if not before the war.

There are known originals by Clemen and Jung, Tiger, Horster and Holler. There are also some original unmarked ones and there may be some others I have not seen. There are MANY fakes by Holler. See my free guide. Here is a Tiger.

After looking at your guide I think this leans toward reproduction, but here's a shot of the eagle to be certain. By the way beautiful Tiger.

Sorry-Yes-that is a 60's Atwood type repro-probably etched Holler on the reverse or unmarked. They can be seen in his book along with a bunch of other fakes. These looked like new in the 60's but many have been aged since then.

Wow, absolutely right! Found them on page 136 of Daggers and Edged Weapons of Hitler's Germany. Jim Atwood really did a lot of damage with his antics.

If I remember correctly, I think you do see some Alcoso's as well.
