A very nice, heavy-duty sidearm there, though,
I think it has more chance of being an imperial fireman's edged weapon. I've never seen a
crossguard pattern like this on a hunting/forestry Hirschfaenger except for some
utilitarian/skinning knives.

I'm sure our bayonet specialists will be able to pin it down even further for you.

Wow, an unusual piece. How are the stag grips retained? Doesn't look like there's visable rivets.

Bill, James - thank you for your opinions. The stag grip is one-piece design and it is fixed in place by the top section of the handle. By the way - all metal parts are nickel-plated.
