Gentlemen,

There was recently a good thread in the bayonet forum that featured some outstanding imperial and Weimar fighting knives with black-lacquered and artificially-patinated, dark fittings.

Here's a lovely example of a Weimar-period,
Hirschfänger having that great indigo or blue/black-colored component parts. Also interesting to note is the diminutive oval-shaped clamshell which somehow enhances and visually exaggerates the overall weight of the deluxe etched blade.

The presentation simply states, "First-class shooting category, Schützen-Master, 1928." For that distinction the Master received this outstanding Clemen & Jung beauty as a tribute to his sharpshooting skills and to remember that eventful occasion.

Thought you gents might like to have a look at this one ... Smile

Special thanks to Gary for letting us all share one of his latest finds. Cool

Best regards!

Bill

Ps what's that old saying ... "once you go black you never go back..?" heh ... Big Grin

Bill,
One word,GORGEOUS! The bräuniert on yours looks very nice? You can't beat these presentation pieces! I have it's saufanger cousin, "Plain Jane". No clam shell with wide plane blade. Heavy as heck though. Thanks for always taking the time to show your nice collectable stuff but also always having the time to comment on other members nice things as well.

My thanks to Bill for another top notch display, a beautiful layout and great pictures, I'm sure you guys will agree.
I found this piece at the last SOS show it was within it's scabbard and not to be seen, I was extremely surprised when I pulled it and very happy to add it to my collection. I love the simplistic look to these fittings, I think they look great in this black finish much better than plain old brass.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed seeing it.

Cheers

Gary
