I do not know anything about photos. The second image is a commercial stone lithograph. A popular form of printing during the period of creation. The image is drawn on a Bavarian limestone with grease pencils and acid etched to creat shades of blacks and greys. Then inked and printed. The framing date is a very good reference as to time of printing. I am not sure of value. The paper is beggining to yellow with age. This can be stopped by acquiring a spray can of Wei To # 10 spray used to nutralize the acid in the paper. It runs about $25.00 to $30.00 a can if you want to bother. You can look "Wei To" up on the net. It is used by the Smithsonian institue on paper items that need to be treated for acid content. It has been used on the original US Constitution and the copies of the Declaration of Independance to name a few items. So I figure it is pretty safe. Request the tape on how to use the stuff. It comes in liquid and spray forms. Steve

Hi there
Just joined the forum so this is my first contribution.
The hat worn by the soldier in the photograph IMHO would date from around the end of the nineteenth to the start of the twentieth.
Sort of thing worn in the Boer War by irregular light cavalry - Yeomanry & Volunteers - bit like the Rough Riders.
Bournemouth & Salisbury are both in the county of Wiltshire so he could be a member of the The Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry Hope this is of some interest/use
