Hi OKCmike,
I never seen one with wire, they did not make Heer grips with wire. If you want to learn more about Heer Daggers may i suggest buying Tom Wittmanns book, you can find it at www.wwiidaggers.com, it will prove very useful and well worth the money if you are interested in Heer Daggers.

Very rare to find a wired grip that's original. Klaas made a few but generally speaking they need to be looked at carefully.

Check out my website!

I found a Klass Army with a wire wrapped grip in Delaware back in 1983. I don't have the vet's name, address, film of the sale or his shoe size to prove that I bought it from him.
I did show it to Tom Johnson and Tom Wittmann, both liked it. At Tom johnson's suggestion I did some research on it. Klass was still in bussiness at that time so I contacted them. They wrote back that they indeed did make such a dagger with that grip as an option. According to the letters they wrote the option did not sell well and was stopped. Some of today's self proclaimed experts have dismissed these letters because they do not specify what type of wire or give an actual date of manufacture. It's up to you what to accept.
During the 80's, I saw maybe 3-4 others like mine. Tom Jonson even put mine in Vol. V. Since the 90's I have seen maybe 100 by different makers with different types of wire. How this happened is anybody's guess.
A little side note, the original reply written by a Klass employee is still with the dagger in question. I have seen photocopies of this letter with other daggers like it, beware.

Well thanks much guys. Plan on ordering books, haven't decided which to start with as yet. At first, I was only interested in SA and maybe an SS. Over time studing and reading posts on this site I bought heer and Luft also. Now I've found myself really interested in RLB and DLV. Is there no end to this! I blame this forum, it's "expletive" Great. I had noticied on some pic.s debris in grooves on heer grips like they had wire at some time so thought I'd ask. Glad no one thought it was a ignorant question.

I know Doug Gow has one or had one, he sent me pics. I believe it came from Tom Johnson some many years ago.
