I´ve got a nice high lift Alcoso army dagger. The blade has nearly all of the crossgrain down to the tip. The spine on the obverse is a little bit out of angle. It ends not in the middle of the blade in the tip. It is a milimeter next to it. The obverse has a little wavy spine, that ends 2 mm next to the tip. Is this okay for these blades or a big no,no? Pics will come tommorrow.
If this is known and ok, please can you post a few examples of original stange army blade tips, i mean original, no re-tipped or sharpened ones.
Look at the maker mark and it tells alot. AWS not ACS. AWS is later after the family was purged from the firm. I have a late AWS navy that the scabbard throat is at a wacky angle but the fit is super so later in the game. Not something I would worry about. maybe others have another opinion. Bret Van Sant
I have seen quite a lot of these out of angle spine blades on period III.R. daggers. I for myself do own some (sorry, no pics). Nothing you would have to worry about. Regards,

Bladelength from the bottom wreath of the swastika until the tip is 24,3 or 24,4 cm. I can´t take the dagger apart, because the pommel is fixed to the tang as usual by these 4th Alcoso army daggers.
On other forums, there are more positive, than negative opinions. On the Waf one guy means, that it is maybe one of T. Johnsons thousand army dagger blades from Solingen and regrind. But i think, how could this be with the pommel still fixed to the tang of the blade of an unopened army dagger.
Please all you specialists in army daggers look at this blade and tell me your most appreciate opinion!!!
Hello marc, concerning the new pics, as already stated, I have seen such tips on a lot of other period III.R. edged wapons. I even think 2nd lufts seem to have them more often than others. No problem at all. Nobody is/was perfect. Regards,
