What I can see from these pictures it looks authentic - Cross guard appears? To be a first pattern Eickhorn. I find this combination of parts strange I can tell you it’s not an early dagger I would like to see an early pommel and two screw scabbard with this crossguard and the term Tombak does not apply to army daggers. Appears to have met the polishing cloth major price deduction in my eyes. I think you can do a lot better then this dagger in the current market

Thanks for your appreciated opinion. So is this combination possible? Generic scabbard and fittings or is it more a parts - dagger???

More pics!!

I studied the crossguard and i think it is more a 4 th horster. it has more similarities to a Horster than to the 1 st Eickhorn imho. What do you guys think???

Wolf with the better picture Yes I believe your right about the guard being a Horster 4th type. Can not comment on the fitting combination though would take a little research although the pommel does not look like the type normally associated with Horster. Could be a later produced piece I am not sure if it’s been cleaned or if it’s a later nickel plated example? Maybe Degens will offer an opinion

At best the pommel has been swapped out, the tones between the pommel and crossguard are inconsistent and possibly with different base metals. The crossguard is a Horster 4th and may well be marked on the underside with a stylised "H".
I was contacted via e-mail regarding this piece and my response indicated that no two parts appeared to be from the same manufacturer however looking at the additional pictures, the scabbard may well be a late Horster production although it does not have the thicker throat?.
The first set of pictures on the white backdrop confuses the problems with this dagger in my opinion as it gives the parts an almost even nickeled appearance, I do not think that they are.
An interesting dagger, but not one that I would be in a hurry to add to my collection!.

As Degens said Look at the underside of your crossguard for the Horster H

Here are both crossguards, the supposed repro overlayed ontop of your dagger crossguard. The differences in the wreath and swastika position is purely down to the different angles that the pictures were taken from.
Identical and both legit in my opinion.

1) Picture before alignment.
2) Picture aligned.

In my opinion that is a Horster crossguard on a dagger that is otherwise Eickhorn.

The head shape of a Horster 4th is more rounded than that of an Eickhorn 2nd and the body shape has a slimmer profile.

Are you saying that this crossguard on the last dagger posted is marked with an "H" on the underside?.

Yes, that is, what he told me. He claims that this fake crossguard has much more weight, than a original Hörster crossguard.

I´m really clueless now.

Jon, you have got an email. Please look, what you can do for me, please.

Thanks
