Gentlemen, it is really urgent!! I need a quick advice!
Under the stamp there should be a waffenabnahmestempel. |

Hello,
do not worry about the pommel, it is OK. I have an early Weyersberg 2nd Luft, and it has the same kind of pommel. See photo. Janos ![]() |

Thank you!!What about the crossguard, the eagle wings? Everything ok?

The grip with the aluminium springy wire is correct for a Weyersberg dagger.
The eagle? It looks OK, but a closer photo would be helpful. Especially a photo of the crossguard quillion arms. Is the blade plated? The scabbard appers to be a WKC product. Regards, Janos |

If that dagger were a reproduction. I'd find another hobby.

The dagger is good, if it didn't have the stickbird stamping above the maker mark, it may warrant a more careful look, this one is good to go.

So it is a in all parts original dagger - ready to grap?
|

Appears all original, but as already mentioned, the scabbard looks a bit like a WKC which will influence the value if so...

The WKC scabbard is not a problem I think.
I saw Weyersberg Lufts with generic, Eickhorn, and other scabbards. Here is a photo of the Weyersberg-style crossguard quillion. Janos ![]() |

The dagger is good but the blade isn`t that great unless I`m seeing grease on it? only you will know if it is a good deal at what you pay for it.

It should be a trade for this triple etched nco sword!

Why? 2nd Lufts are the most prolific TR dagger produced with a mixture of parts and whilst some scabbards and scabbard bands are easily indentifiable to a particular maker I do not recall a specific Weyersburg design. Guns Mr Nolan, I see no Guns! |

Weyersberg was a major producer of Luft daggers, as far as I recall mostly Weyersberg and SMF produced contract daggers for the Luftwaffe as noted by the acceptance stamp seen on these makers. Most Weyersbergs I have seen have the same style scabbard given they were a main producer of this model, in fact, I'd say Weyersbergs are pretty consistent in terms of manufacture and fittings. Red |

Consistent in that they had no model of their own and used either generic or WKC or a mixture of the two, scabbard bands produced by Weyersburg do not exist so the implication that scabbard bands used by another manufacturer devalues this piece is wrong IMHO. There are some pieces shown on here with really dodgy scabbard bands that get the thumbs up, here is a piece with no issues at all. Guns Mr Nolan, I see no Guns! |

The dagger is nice, but Weyersberg Lufts are distinctive in that their fittings are unique, and although they used the generic style scabbard, all the Weyersbergs I have owned or seen myself have had the generic bands. To have a scabbard by another maker will effect the value as the so-called "textbook" configuration for this dagger is with a generic scabbard. Wittmann also seems to document this maker with the generic scabbard type.
Exchanged period parts between makers is possible, as they did sometimes procure from each other, no question, but most parts swapping occurred post war. Buyers and sellers favour a textbook dagger, that's simply the way it is, like it or not. It's a bit like having a Voos Army with an Eickhorn crossguard, could it have been made this way period, yes, but it would most certainly effect its value, happens all the time... Each to his own I guess... Red |
