A couple of weeks ago I saw an original Klaas second model luft dagger with a cream color painted wooden grip. The grip had double aluminum strands wrapped about it. I'd like to buy it as it must be a scarce variation but I'm unsure of the value of the dagger. The dagger was in overall excellent condition but the grip had some minor paint loss and there was a couple of small pieces of the grip that chipped off. If anyone has any information about this dagger or what a fair price would be please enlighten me.

Yes the Klaas painted wooden grip a nice variation-the one Paul has is a nice dagger surprised he has had it as long as he has. Surprisingly they seem not to bring much if anything over a regular dagger even though they are rare as hen’s teeth. Klaas did some strange stuff on grips on the 2nd model luft you have the black grips (funeral dagger) that they painted white and the painted wooden handles that are more of a yellowish color.

Hard to say what is a fair price because such questions are always subjective regarding anything that is not quite "run of the mill".

Tom. I`m also somewhat surprised that Paul has had that one for such a long time but it is the kind of dagger that would only really appeal to luftwaffe "type" collector. Even so it is a nice enough dagger.

Thanks for the info and some idea as to price, I thought it would have been worth more, but I guess it would take the type buyer. Certainly not as nice as the trolon type grip but a scarce variation. Armed with this new information I'll see if I can buy it.

That is an intersting post. You have to hand it to them Klaas enhancements were superb & Paul has some beautiful exmples.

If I were a luft collector I should find such a variant very desirable & Klaas are anyway not a very common maker for these daggers.
