I received a naval dagger with two blades. One by Eickhorn and one by Weyersberg. Neither tang has threads consistant with othe rmodels I have. I believe they are both post war but would like confirmation. I am sorry for the detail but hopefully the photos are enough to verify what these are.

Here is a photo of both.

1st, the Eickhorn. beautiful plated blade with the etch of a sailing ship on the reverse and an anchor and sailing ship on the obverse.
The tank is smaller than other naval examples to the extent a period pommel slips over it. The tang threads are perfect.

The Weyersberg blade has the correct diameter tang but incorrect threads and will cros thread the original pommels i have. I do not like this TM with the sprigs not so full.

The reverse has a battle ship but I had difficulty with the detail. The blade is mint.

Jim I've never seen or heard of an Eickhorn with a "sailing ship" etch.I maybe wrong but I don't like them.Whats at the bottom of the weyesburg is it the Keel (sp) monument. If it is it's NG from everything I've read.

Some unscrupulous dealers could certainly argue that these could be "rare variables". Roll Eyes
Why buy "textbook" when you can have those. Big Grin

Didn't know about the Eickhorn not offering the sailing ship blade, nice to know.

A disturbing trend as of late is that the fakers have "corrected" these etched Eickhorns and are now making them with stamped maker marks. A browse of Ebay will show you how these guys are learning from us!

It is not just the forgers who are the problem. When I informed the owner that both blades were post war, he argued that several collectors had advised him the Eickhorn was pre WWII.

Fortunately I was able to send him this link.

The quality of these is disturbing.

I just saw this same blade on a dagger on Ebay from the veteran's widow.

Thank you for all the input.
