This short whip was with other WW2 German souvenirs brought home by an American GI. It has a wooden handle and 7 strips of leather. Does anyone recognize it as something a German Officer would have carried for show or for horse mounted equipment? Thanks.

Thewe were used to clean blankets and uniforms. Nothing more, nothing less. Not intended to beat prisoners.

Thanks, that makes sense to me. Does it have any great sale value or should I just hang it on my wall?

It does not look like the standard RAD clothes whip , they are usually marked too.. Maybe a very early one[?] For now I'd hang on to it...

By the way,,sure there were the standard RAD clothes whip,,but they were also used for beatings, unofficially of course........

anthropomorphism is the unique human ability to transfer human characteristics to inanimate objects. In this case, the crop is seen as evil as any use can be attributed to it, good or bad.We choose bad because of where it came from and who used it.

Same thing applies to daggers and pistols..
