HI There,

The Red Cross leader dagger is not my area of expertise but I always wanted to have one in my collection. I thought I will get some expert opinions before going further with the purchase. Yhis piece originates from germany and I hurt there are very good fakes done now there. What do you think guys - is this one legit?

The screws on the scappbard are there, the mouth is separable.

Greeting from Rodos - the holiday island!

Spot on and a very nice example.

If you want to criticise someone first walk a mile in their shoes. Then, when they come after you, you'll be a mile ahead and they'll be barefoot.

Very nice conditioned original dagger. Remarkable that the pommel screw is untouched and therefore still undamaged (that´s how it should stay!).

BTW. How do you identify a producer of DRK leaders. I was told most of them came from Robert Clas's manufacrture. Is that the case?

One more thing. How do you identify the the manufacturer of the DRK Leader? Is that the case that most of them came from R. Klaas?

I believe most were by PD Luneschloss. Their mark should be on the tang.I wouldn't dare break this down to find out though.

As far as I'm aware there are 2 makers of DRK/Social Welfare leaders, Klaas and PD Luneshloss. Yours appears to be a Klaas judging from the crossguard and scabbard.

Red,

I think you're right about the makers of DRK Leaders daggers being Klaas & PDL. Although I've never seen a tang marked with the kissing cranes on a DRK Leader, I know these are the same identified makers of the DRK hewer. Makes sense that if Klaas & PDL had one DRK contract that they might have the other. Here's my Klaas hewer.
